Networking event on BD-USA Trade and Investment on March 30

Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York and US-Bangladesh Global Chamber of Commerce jointly organize a virtual networking event on “US- Bangladesh Trade and Investment Opportunities” scheduled for 30th March 8 pm Bangladesh time and  10:00 AM in USA.

As a part of celebrating the glorious 50th anniversary of its independence and the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, this virtual networking event will connect ministers, diplomats, corporate and business leaders and investors, a press release said.

It will address trade, investment and business  opportunities in power and energy, readymade garments and knit composite, banking, capital market, insurance, information technology and telecommunication, health, education, hospitality, textile, jute and jute goods.

A stable macroeconomic environment, resilient domestic demand, and export-oriented industry-led growth have placed Bangladesh among the fastest growing economies of the world. Its economy growing steadily above 6.5% on average over a decade has transformed the country into a land of opportunities. Bangladesh is enjoying its developing market economy more than ever before. The United Nations Committee for Development Policy (CDP) has recently recommended graduation of Bangladesh from the category of Least Developed Country (LDC)as it fulfilled the eligibility criteria in terms of per capita income, human assets and economic and environmental vulnerability, which are important positive indicators for trade and investment opportunities. Asian Development Bank has estimated Bangladesh’s GDP growthby 5.2% in 2020 even amidst global pandemic and 6.8% in 2021. Bangladesh is also the world’s 29th largest economy by purchasing power parity.

Fostering US-Bangladesh trade and investment opportunities presents a promising prospect, the organizers mentioned.
