At the beginning of the program held at the Bangabandhu Auditorium of the Embassy on the occasion of Genocide Day, the messages given by President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were read out.
Afterward, in his speech, Ambassador M Shahidul Islam paid deep homage to the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the martyrs of the War of Liberation.

He called upon all to work hard to overcome all adversities and bring the benefits of independence to every citizen.
A documentary titled “Genocide in 1971 and the Killing Fields" was screened at the event. After that, a special prayer was offered seeking the divine blessing and peace of the souls of the Father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and all martyred members of his family and souls of three lakh martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the night of 1971 and in the nine months of the liberation war.
At the end of the ceremony, the embassy family members walked around the embassy premises with lit candles to pay their respects to the memory of the martyrs killed on the night of March 25.
