Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) have signed a development agreement to expedite development work of BEPZA Economic Zone at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar, Mirsharai, Chattogram.

BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Md Nazrul Islam and Executive Chairman of BEZA Paban Chowdhury signed the agreement at a hotel in Dhaka Sunday (30 May) on behalf of their respective organizations. 

Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus was present as the Chief Guest in the signing ceremony. Among others, Senior Secretary of Local Government Division Mr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, high officials of Prime Minister’s Office, BEPZA and BEZA including local and foreign investors were present in the program.

Mentionable that, the development work of BEPZA Economic Zone on 1150 acres of land at Mirsharai, Chattogram is progressing very fast. The development work of the zone will be expedited by signing this agreement and it will be possible to allot industrial plots to the investors very soon. It will accelerate the flow of investment in the country. After implementation of the whole project, about 350 industries will be set up in 539 industrial plots. This will create employment opportunities for about 4 lac people and attract investment of about US$ 4 billion.
