With so many children in Bangladesh continuing to feel the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the new season of Sisimpur will support families with the tools they need to foster playful learning at home and cope with challenges, a press release said.

Made possible through the support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Early Childhood Development Mass Media Activity, Sisimpur, has been helping children across Bangladesh grow smarter, stronger, and kinder since 2005.

The virtual launch features the beloved Sisimpur characters Tuktuki, Halum, Ikri, Shiku and live character Khushi. Mr. Md. Zakir Hossen MP, the Honorable State Minister to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is featured as the Chief Guest of the event. The new season will also include a new spin on popular segment “Shiku’s Can You Tell.” New episodes will also promote healthy habits, taking care of the environment, socio-emotional skills like expressing emotions, and much more.

USAID’s Early Childhood Development Mass Media Activity, Sisimpur, is a four-year initiative consisting of 104 brand new episodes of Sisimpur and a range of Public Service Announcements, 40 storybooks, and e-learning materials. Sisimpur recently launched an interactive eLearning platform for children, available as an APP on Google Play and available on the Sisimpur website. New content will address early grade reading and USAID’s development objectives through life skills themes including Global Health (including nutrition); Global Climate Change; Democracy and Governance; and Disaster Preparedness. Season 13 of Sisimpur is planned to be aired on Fridays on Duronto TV at 8:00 AM, on Maasranga TV at 9:00 AM and BTV at 10:10 AM. However, Sisimpur will continue airing on the weekdays on these three channels as per earlier schedule.

Sesame Workshop Bangladesh has distributed more than 60,000 Sisimpur storybooks to primary schools across Bangladesh to help children in pre-primary to Class III to improve their Bangla reading skills. Sisimpur, an original Bangladeshi adaptation of Sesame Street, addresses the immediate needs of preschoolers with an emphasis on cognitive and socio-emotional development.
