C-BED Programme Launched in Bangladesh

Community-Based Enterprise Development Bangladesh Programme has started the journey by launching the piloting on October 30, 2020. This C-BED Bangladesh programme cohort will be held entirely online to ensure the programme's mentors, partners, and participants' health and safety.

The Orientation Programmevirtually took placeon October 30, 2020,a pilot programme funded by non-profitorganization Kazuko Bhuiyan Welfare Trust in association with an IT enable company Intradoc International from Bangladesh.The NPO Youth International Support Association (YISA) will support the tools of the virtual class and the Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability (AISIMAS) impact center Kyoto will provide the technically support for the fundraising from Japan. The virtual orientation programis organized & coordinated by Masudur Rahaman, as country coordinator of C-BED Bangladesh.

Five students from a diverse background will attend a 8-week long piloting programme called mini MBA.

C-BED is a low cost, easy to implement training approachdesigned by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to help institutions support entrepreneurs and micro-business owners to start new businesses or improve existing businesses. 

Charles Bodwell, Enterprises Development Officer at the International Labour Organization (ILO), Akira Kawasaki, Junior Enterprise Development Officer at the International Labour Organization (ILO), Cong Xu, Kyoto University, Japan, Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun), Trustee of Kazuko Bhuiyan Welfare Trust, Taizo Yokohama, Director, NPO Youth International Support Association (YISA), Japan, Sabbir Hasan, IT & PSC networking support of C-BED Bangladesh piloting program & CEO of InTraDoc International, Yurika Bhuiyan, Moderator, C-BED Bangladesh & Trustee, Kazuko Bhuiyan Trust, Maksuda Sonia, Moderator C-BED Bangladesh, were present in the programme.

This C-BED programme is introduced in Bangladesh for the first time. C-BED is already on-going in more than a dozen countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. C-BED tools have been taken up by governments, trade unions, business associations, and NGOs.

"I expect that Bangladeshi Community will be able to add more value to this community-based traininginterms of scale and quality," said Akira Kawasaki, Junior Enterprise Development Officer at International Labour Organization (ILO).

Also, welcoming the C-BED program students, Charles Bodwell, Enterprises Development Officer at the ILO, said: "It's great to see the C-BED programme get a foothold in Bangladesh, supporting entrepreneurship, business creation and sustainable ideas, all with the help of the ILO's activity-based learning model."

After completing the Orientation programme, the first module of the first week was conducted by the programme facilitators.
The C-BED Bangladesh main programme will start on January 1, 2021, after conducting successful piloting.
